ARICA-2 is currently undergoing health checks and preparations for future operations. Since there has been limited information available regarding GMSK communication with ARICA-2 during the initial phase and normal operations, we would like to provide an update on the current communication status.
At present, amateur radio operations are mainly limited to CW beacon transmissions. GMSK communication is conducted only between ARICA-2 and the Aoyama Gakuin University (AGU) control room when the satellite is passing over Japan. Therefore, GMSK communication is currently not available to the general public.
In future operations, we are planning to start the Amateur Mission operation, which will allow not only the AGU control room but also amateur radio operators worldwide to communicate with ARICA-2 using GMSK. Once the Amateur Mission begins, we will announce it on this website and on X.
In the meantime, we kindly ask all amateur radio operators to continue supporting us by receiving the CW beacon transmissions.
If you have received the CW beacon or camera image data from ARICA-2, we will provide an e-QSL card to those who request it.
You can apply for an e-QSL card by following the steps below:
Receive the CW beacon or image data.
In the reception report Google Form, select “Yes” for the question asking whether you would like to request an e-QSL card, and submit your reception report along with the received data.
After the ARICA-2 team verifies the submitted data and confirms that it was received from ARICA-2, the e-QSL card will be sent to you via email.
The e-QSL card will be sent to the email address you entered in the Google Form and the distribution date will be announced later.
